SmartArray controllers are listed as compatible HBAs for the SAS models of the Autoloader What smart controller for the HW described above? Is an HBA the same as a smart controller? My geographic location and the people assisting me at the moment aren't the best combination of factors and therefore I cry for some light on the topic. Now I was advised to buy the adequate one to connect to the NAS but without confirmation of which model the controller should be. Now, previously, for connecting the autoloader to the server I was told to buy a smart array controller. The NAS will also be HP, x1800 G2 4.8TB SAS. (haven't said yes yet as it is so expensive that i need to check 100 times before). We have bought an HP 1/8 G2 autoloader that we want to connect to an NAS that we are still going to buy. I've tried to "study" the topic but i am lost as lost gets. one day I woke up and I was the IT at the office. Ok, I need to first apologise if the topic is outrageously idiotic but i was given a task that is well beyond my skills.
